Building Wireless Sensor Networks explains theory and practice behind using Zigbee (xbee) modules to build both simple point to point links and complex mesh networks
The author uses the familiar Xbee Explorer Regulated and Xbee Explorer USB to easily access and adapt xbee modules to different application. The book explains about using X-CTU or a simple terminal program to change settings on the Xbee modules and set them up for different network configurations.
At the advanced end of things, the author explains about the ‘API’ data / command mode which can be used to speed up data operations and touches on the use of Xbee ‘gateways’ to the internet or other data networks.
